Details

Karafuu is the Swahili name for Clove, the main spice grown on the island of Zanzibar. During harvest season, the cloves are dried in the sun and you can smell the aroma in villages around the island. The carving on the lid of Chako's signature jar is inspired by the shape of the clove flower.

  • Material: old wine bottles, Mninga wood, food-grade silicon
  • This product is made out of one bottle from the more than 2 million bottles Chako collects in one year in Zanzibar
  • Chako is a proudly guaranteed member of the World Fair Trade Organisation
  • 60% of the Chako artisans are women and they focus on unemployed youth and create knowledge
